Mexico still going strong

Mexico is still standing and doing well after Hurrican Dean.

Despite the hurricane Dean hitting Mexico’s coast, only minor damage was done to the tourist areas. Only the cruise ship piers and cruise itineraries were affected.

Costa Maya’s port received damage, including the cruise ship pier and surrounding areas. We hear that the port will be closed from 6 to 8 months for repairs. Other tourist areas such as Cancun and Cozumel, and the Mayan Riviera were not affected and are operating normally.

“Fortunately the tourist infrastructure in the region is in perfect condition and in capacity to continue offering its services to the millions of tourists that visit that zone of the country each year,” says Francisco Lopez Mena, Director of the Mexico Tourism Board, adding that lessons learned with Hurricane Wilma helped them take all pertinent measures this time around. The storm only caused smaller damage on some local highways.

I just returned from a SANDALS seminar to renew my CSS - Certified Sandals Specialist designation. You can even get free lessons on how to wind sail.
Sandals also has spa amenities managed by Red Lane Spas that rival some of the best in the world. Oh, and they have butler concierge rooms that are phenomenal in service. I've been to a Sandals and was amazed at the dining and all the many things we could do while there. I think everyone should try it once. BTW, they also have the BEACHES resorts for the families with all the same great amenities!!!
