SimpliFLY your packing... 2/29/2008 12:58:33 PM Link | | Add comment I added an updated link on our website about packing for your next trip. Chances are that you will be flying, and so many people have concerns about their luggage. The 3-1-1 rule can be confusing at first, and the task of packing can stress a person out before you ever leave home. If you click on the sub menu on the left, you can click on a list of accepted and prohibited items. This list will show you what you can and can't carry or pack. BTW, lighten up on the packing, more airlines are charging for that 2nd piece to be checked in. Some charge for the all checked in luggage!
| Avoid Cruise vacation misiries 2/27/2008 3:34:36 PM Link | | Add comment I just read a great article on how to have a stress free cruise vacation. While my staff usually mentions this to their clients, its always nice to see it in print. In short order as written by Anita Dunham-potter, columnist for MSNBC.
Pack smart-put identification INSIDE your luggage so it can be identified if it is lost. Report lost luggage immediately to the airline and cruiseline. Carry the essentials with you. It may be a couple days before you get it back. Don't miss the ship during bad weather. Plan to fly in early, a little more money but arriving ahead eliminates the anxiety of missing the ship. Don't be left on shore. Stay healthy. Eat smart, wash, wash, wash your hands. Bad hygiene by a small group can spread the flu and noro bug to a large group. Wet your hands, add the soap and wash for 20 seconds. Very simple but do as your mother says. Take the trip protection insurance. If you cancel, you will incur huge penalties and might not even get any refund. The insurance protects your dollar investment in your vacation. Reserch your ports of call. Be savvy about the destination and stay safe while you travel. Some destinations are not the place to go it alone on the excursion. Shore excursions arranged by your cruise line will be a fairly safe bet. Watch your wallet, carry small amounts of cash, use costume jewelry, and don't flaunt the fancy electronics.
A little research and preparation can go along way to making this a memorable vacation.

That doesn't surprise me in the least since those are two of the more popular destinations in our office. Families look for the vacation destination with ears and other customers look for the destination with 1 armed bandits. I think you know which place is which. ;-)
Other top ranking destinations were Los Angeles for the star seekers and San Francisco for those wanting to visit Fisherman's Wharf, Duval Street, Nob Hill and the Golden Gate bridge. For those looking for an international flavour, Western Europe has 5 cities in the top 5 spots, while Mexico to our rated within the top 10.
It's time to start thinking about that summer vacation, either galloping through Europe, visiting the House of Mouse in Florida, or rolling the dice.
| Aloha! 2/13/2008 1:20:18 PM Link | | Add comment Thinking of a cruise but you just don't want to get that Passport card or a full fledged Passport book? Have you considerd a Hawaii cruise? Passports are not required.
One thing nice about taking the Hawaii cruise is that you dont' have to pack and then unpack, pack again, and so on while visiting more than one island. There's so much to do on every island in Hawai'i that it's just not right to stay on one or two islands and a cruise is a great way to travel around.
I think that it's the best of both worlds - cruising & Hawaii.
My wife is sold on cruising because of the service as well as the relaxed atmosphere that NCL offers.
Check it out on the NCL link.

| Got Carded Lately? Alternative to a Passport 2/12/2008 1:46:02 PM Link | | Add comment Have you been carded lately? If not, maybe the Passport card is right for you. Cheaper, valid for 10 years, and gets you across the boarder to Canada or Mexico. The card may NOT be used to travel by air. It will otherwise carry the rights and privileges of the U.S. passport book.
LOWER COST - First-time applicants will pay $45 for adult cards and $35 for children. For adults who already have a passport book, they may apply for the card as a passport renewal and pay only $20.
VALIDATY - 10 years for adults and 5 years for children 15 and younger.
The passport card is a wallet-size card that can only be used for land and sea travel between the United States and Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Bermuda. The card will provide a less expensive, smaller, and more convenient alternative to the passport book for those who travel frequently to these destinations by land or by sea.
As of February 1st, U.S. citizens may begin applying for the new U.S. The cards are expected to be mailed to applicants in spring 2008.
You still need photos, (we shoot them here $10.00), applications are online, submit application at the post office in Lima.
